VFV: Grassroots Day

34 clubs had opened their doors to more than 1,500 children from 3 to 12 years-old (including 275 girls) at the Grassroots May 2014. Thanks to this initiative, more than half have made their very first dribbles on a football field. The smiles on the players' faces and their parents' pride confirmed the success of this event.

Starting this year, the Grassroot Day is no longer limited to the month of May. The VFV invites all clubs to open as regularly as possible their doors to young talents. An open house that allows children aged 3 to 12 years to follow a fun introduction to football and to meet the coaches, coworkers of the club and, who knows, perhaps new teammates.

The great succes of the reform of youth football

Revolution is here in youth football with Festifoot, where our U6 play 2 on 2 in mixed teams. The ACFF has two main goals with Festifoot: youngsters touching the ball more often and a bigger social impact for football.

The VFV also reformed the youth competitions in 2014: the youngest will play in new game forms. The clubs are guided with demonstration trainings and technical education. Besides this reform, clubs have organized Winterfutsal, so that young players can still enjoy the game during winter break.
